CTrain & Transit

MAX Green, Express Buses and the Green Line

North Calgary has no CTrain. MAX Green (Route 301) runs from North Pointe terminal beside Country Hills Village to downtown, and the Symons Valley Express (Route 503) links Sage Hill terminal with downtown. Peak express routes serve Harvest Hills (109), Coventry Hills (116) and Panorama Hills (142).

The Green Line's north leg along Centre Street, with stations at North Pointe, 96 Avenue N and beyond, appears in the City's station data with no construction stage set. The project now under construction is the southeast segment from Shepard to downtown, due to open in 2031, so don't pay a premium in the north for a promised train.

What to watch for in North Calgary

  • No CTrain, and the Green Line north isn't scheduled: the City's current Green Line project runs from Shepard in the southeast to downtown. The north stations have no construction stage yet.
  • Car dependence in the newest areas: sample condo addresses score 27 on Walk Score in Sage Hill, 48 in Kincora and 50 in Evanston.
  • New supply: the City lists Sage Hill and Kincora as developing communities, and newer neighbours such as Livingston (median build year 2022) keep adding condos that compete with resales.
  • Newer buildings: most Sage Hill, Kincora and Evanston units were built since 2010, so many are still inside Alberta's mandatory new home warranty (five years for the building envelope, ten for structure). Ask for the warranty documents.
  • Townhouse plans: Evanston is 94% townhouses. Check whether a complex is a conventional or bare land condo and who pays for roofs and siding.
