Calgary CTrain Map & Condo Guide
Calgary's CTrain runs two light rail lines, the Red Line and the Blue Line, which share downtown's 7 Avenue, where rides are free — and a third, the Green Line, is under construction. See where the condo neighbourhoods sit, how they connect, and why being near a station matters.
Calgary's CTrain (light rail) has two lines. The Red Line runs from Tuscany in the northwest to Somerset–Bridlewood in the south; the Blue Line runs from 69 Street in the west to Saddletowne in the northeast. Both share the 7 Avenue transit mall downtown, where riding between stations is free. The Green Line's first phase, from Shepard in the southeast to Victoria Park, has been under construction since June 2025, with service targeted for 2031.

Calgary CTrain System & Condo Access
Both lines run through the heart of Downtown on 7 Avenue — making central-area condos uniquely transit-connected.
Schematic only — not to geographic scale · Sources: Calgary Transit, City of Calgary
Calgary's CTrain opened on May 25, 1981, with its first line running from Anderson Road to 7 Avenue SW. Today two lines carry riders between the northwest, the south, the west and the northeast, all meeting on downtown's 7 Avenue.
Red Line Northwest–South
Tuscany (NW) → Somerset–Bridlewood (S) · 20 stations outside downtown, plus the shared 7 Avenue stations · Serves the University of Calgary, SAIT, Sunnyside and Kensington, Victoria Park and Stampede Park, Chinook and the south.
Blue Line West–Northeast
69 Street (W) → Saddletowne (NE) · 16 stations outside downtown, plus the shared 7 Avenue stations · Serves Sunalta, Westbrook, Bridgeland, the Calgary Zoo and the northeast.
Green Line Southeast · under construction
Shepard (SE) → Event Centre/Grand Central in Victoria Park · 16 km and 10 stations, under construction since June 2025 · A street-level downtown extension along 10 Avenue S to a station near 2 Street SW was approved in September 2026.
Green Line Phase 1 ~2031 service targeted by the City of Calgary.
🚇 Why CTrain Access Matters for Condo Buyers
- Buyers and tenants search by transit — a short walk to a station widens the pool of people who want your unit
- Both lines share 7 Avenue downtown — Downtown and Beltline condos have the easiest access to the whole network
- Rides between the 7 Avenue stations, from Downtown West–Kerby to City Hall/Bow Valley College, are free in the Free Fare Zone
- University and SAIT/AUArts/Jubilee stations put students and staff on the Red Line, one ride from Downtown
- CTrain access can eliminate the need for a second vehicle — a significant monthly saving
- Calgary Transit bus routes and MAX bus rapid transit lines fill in where the CTrain doesn't reach

The Green Line: What It Means for Condo Buyers
The Green Line is Calgary's third CTrain line. Its first phase, a 16 km, 10-station line from Shepard in the southeast to Event Centre/Grand Central station in Victoria Park, has been under construction since June 26, 2025, and the City of Calgary is targeting service in 2031.
The project has changed shape along the way. The Province withdrew its funding on September 3, 2024; the City and the Province reached a new agreement on October 10, 2024; and Council approved the southeast segment on January 28, 2025. On September 22, 2026, Council voted 12–2 for a street-level downtown route along the centre of 10 Avenue S to a new station near 2 Street SW. That segment goes to design and procurement first, and no construction dates have been set. The earlier plan for a tunnel to Eau Claire and the north leg along Centre Street to 160 Avenue N are not part of Phase 1; the north has no funding or timeline. (Status as of October 2026.)
Things to keep in mind
- Construction brings road closures, noise and detours for several years — factor that into your timeline.
- Units right beside the line may hear trains and crossing bells; a block or two away often gives the best of both.
- Plans can change: check the City's Green Line page for the latest before you count on a station.
Areas Gaining CTrain Access
- Inglewood & Ramsay — Ramsay/Inglewood station
- Victoria Park — Event Centre/Grand Central station
- Ogden & Lynnwood/Millican — southeast stations
- Quarry Park & Douglas Glen — southeast stations
- Shepard — southern terminus
Living Near the CTrain: The Sweet Spot
Close enough to walk, far enough to sleep. Here's how to judge a condo's transit location.
Aim for 400–800 m
A 5–10 minute walk is where most riders draw the line. Further than that and the benefit fades.
Check Noise & Vibration
Visit at rush hour. Trains, crossing bells and station announcements carry, especially where the line runs at street level. Bedrooms facing away from the line help.
Walk the Route at Night
Walk from the building to the station after dark. Lighting, sightlines and how busy the route is matter as much as distance.
Look Up Station-Area Plans
The City plans for more housing and shops near stations. That brings amenities — and sometimes construction next door.
Bike + Transit
The Beltline and Mission both have Bike Scores of 90. Pair a bike with the CTrain and many residents skip owning a car.
Still Want a Stall?
Even transit-first buyers should consider a titled parking stall — it's a big plus at resale, especially in winter.
The Plus 15, Pathways & Winter Commuting
Downtown Calgary's Plus 15 is a network of elevated, enclosed and climate-controlled walkways — more than 16 km of them, joined by 86 bridges. For Downtown condo owners it means getting to work, lunch and the shops without stepping outside on a cold January morning.
Calgary's regional pathways run for hundreds of kilometres along the Bow and Elbow rivers and Nose Creek, linking Eau Claire, East Village, Inglewood, Mission and Kensington, and making cycling a real option for many commuters.
For drivers, the core connects to Deerfoot Trail, Crowchild Trail and Memorial Drive, and Stoney Trail rings the city.
