  • On-It, which linked Cochrane with Brentwood station, the University of Calgary and Downtown, was discontinued as early as June 1, 2026
  • Falcon Bus, a private operator listed by the Town, runs five weekday trips from The Station to Brentwood station, the University of Calgary and Downtown Calgary (about 45 minutes to 9 Avenue SW on the first trip)

What to watch for in Cochrane

  • Car dependence: Cochrane's townwide Walk Score is 20. Downtown scores 79, but the newer condo areas score 18 to 41.
  • No public commuter link to Calgary: On-It was discontinued in 2026 and the Town isn't running a replacement. Only a private bus with five weekday trips remains, so plan on driving.
  • Highway 22 bottleneck: the Bow River bridge on Highway 22 is a known congestion point. The Province funded design work in April 2026, but construction isn't funded yet.
  • Bow River flood hazard: the Town points residents to the provincial Upper Bow River hazard study and flood maps. Check them for any riverside building, along with its insurance history.
  • Steady new supply: the Town's 2026 housing study estimates about 241 more homes a year are needed to 2031, so new townhouses and apartments will compete with resale condos.
