The Dick Block (McGill Block), Calgary
A 1909–10 brick block on Inglewood's 9 Avenue, built by a couple who survived the Titanic.
The Dick Block was built by Albert and Vera Dick, who survived the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. It has housed shops and apartments on Inglewood's historic 9 Avenue SE commercial street for more than a century; after a 1986 fire, architect Jack Long rebuilt the lost facades with their classical details. Inglewood's restaurants, shops and the Elbow and Bow River pathways are steps away.
