What to watch for in Chestermere

  • Car dependence: Chestermere's citywide Walk Score is 26. The Town Centre (70 at 300 Marina Drive) is the walkable condo area; Rainbow Falls scores 28 and Kinniburgh 19.
  • Very limited transit: MAX Purple runs only two weekday trips each way, and the pilot is extended only to June 20, 2027. A new hourly local and on-demand service has been endorsed but not launched — check the status before relying on transit.
  • Road-dependent commute: driving to Calgary means Chestermere Boulevard/17 Avenue SE or Highway 1, and there is no CTrain or funded rapid transit.
  • An irrigation lake: Chestermere Lake is operated for irrigation, and the Western Irrigation District lowers it to its winter level each fall (from October 13 in 2026). Lakefront views and boating are seasonal.
  • A small condo market: only about 800 households lived in condos in 2021, and 80% of homes were single-detached, so sales are few and prices swing. Compare recent sales in the specific complex and review the reserve fund study.
