Overview

Condos in East Village

East Village sits where the Bow and Elbow rivers meet, beside the site of Fort Calgary, and declined for decades after the Second World War. The City created the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation in 2007 to redevelop it, and every one of its roughly 2,100 condo units was built in 2000 or later, three-quarters of them since 2010.

What to watch for in East Village

East Village is on the Bow and Elbow floodplain and was evacuated in June 2013. CMLC has since raised the ground about five feet across 40 acres, but ask about each building's flood protection. Construction and event crowds will continue next door as Scotia Place and the Culture + Entertainment District build out to at least fall 2027. Not every unit comes with parking.

Before you buy

Review the building's condo documents — reserve fund, minutes and bylaws — before you firm up. Our Buyer Guide shows what to look for.
